Parent Information Sessions
Finding out that a young person is self harming, or is struggling with their emotional wellbeing, can feel frightening, confusing and overwhelming. You may be unsure how to respond, what might help, or where to turn for support.
I offer one-off Parent Information Sessions for parents and carers who would like to talk through their situation with someone who has extensive experience supporting young people affected by self-harm and emotional distress, alongside a sound knowledge of self-harm and young people’s emotional wellbeing.
The sessions provide a confidential and discreet space to ask questions, find out more about self-harm, explore ways of supporting your young person and consider any further help or support that may be useful. Each sessions guided by your individual circumstances and what you would find most helpful.
Although these sessions are primarily aimed at parents and carers, they are also open to other family members or people supporting someone who is self harming or experiencing emotional distress.
Sessions last around 60 minutes are are available online or face to face in Aboyne. They are intended as a one-off consultation, with the option of arranging a further session if helpful.
Your young person does not need to be aged 12-25 or to be accessing counselling with me in order for you to arrange a parent session.
Parent Information Sessions are not counselling, but an opportunity to gain information, guidance and support in understanding and responding to a difficult situation.
